Here We Go!
December 30, 2006
So, I’ve been thinking about blogging for a while now (actually a year). But I wanted to sort of test the waters by reading my friends’ blogs. I know that’s cheating but who cares. Are there blogging etiquittes that I need to know or don’t know about? Probably, I’ll get there. I think in doing so (reading my friends’ blogs, it has sparked my curiosity: Who reads them? What do they blog about? How often would I blog? What the heck would I blog about?…so many other questions and concerns. I don’t know. Here we go, I guess…
First of all, there is a ton of work involved here. I haven’t even begun to think about “blogrolls”, “categories”, “How to insert videos/pictures?”, “tagging” or whatever else there is…so much…almost too much. I feel like I’m in a foriegn country? India?
Second of all, who ever invented this is/was a genius. Think about it: you can say whatever you want (in compliance with the “agreement” you all read and ’signed’…I did…that thing was long, they’re all lengthy I suppose…agreements and such), you can tap into the thoughts of others, learn tons from them, practice your writing abilities (or realize your lack thereof, like me), communicate with those you would not otherwise communicate with because of time, laugh your face off because some of the funniest people in your life write about the funniest things in life….blah, blah, blah. Sooooo much stuff! Its fascinating!!!
Third of all, its weird to think that people may read your thoughts. Aren’t I already tired of the scrutiny of being watched and analyzed by the people watching me daily, let alone having people read my thoughts, critique my grammatical errors and challenge the content of my blogs? Woh…runon sentence. SEE? That’s okay I guess. You gotta be willing to take the hits hugh? I want to learn…I’ll try and edit things before I ”publish” them…am I writing a book here now or…? Here we go!
Man! This world is crazy. Its so full of cool things. And I guess what I don’t want to do is waste my time not using this cool tool for any of the reasons mentioned above or not mentioned. I’m tempted to wish I was a scholar like Todd Bolen, who just knows so much and is faithful to bring those important things to light; things I would never know had I not the opportunities to read his blog. And Gunner! What the heck! A book I wish were written? Here we go: A Collection of Gunner’s Thoughts…ALL OF THEM! Sam and Holly….I can read your blogs forever. I may cramp up every now and then because I’m laughing so much but anything to help me regain my six pack….that’ll never happen! I love reading Happy and Amy’s blog…it’s cool to keep in touch that way. And many others have contributed to challenge my thinking. It’s cool, at least that’s what I think.
So, ya. I don’t know what will come of this but I do hope and pray something good comes of it, something profitable, something funny, something worth your read. Why? I don’t know. I was just thinking that maybe you would be encouraged somehow, you would smile a little bit, you would think a little bit deeper as a result of reading what I was just thinking or maybe you just want to keep in touch this way…hopefully!
Oh well, here we go!
Oh ya…I know, I have a lot of updating to do!
I am so glad you have joined the wonderful world of blogging. I know you will make me laugh so hard I can hardly see straight. And I know you will make me think, and contemplate, and inspire thankfulness in me with your thoughts, as you always do. Welcome to this ridiculous subculture! Par-TAY!!!!
Bring it, Ona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Siona, I’m excited to see you now have a blog! It has been added to my Google reader!
Eric
Ona! Welcome to the blogworld. I’m sure your words will be encouraging. I saw your link from Sam.
gosh! i’m so loved! thanks for the warm welcome holly, sam, eric and gunner (tears streaming down)!!!
Thanks for the shout-out Ona! I’m so happy you’re doing a blog. I’ll definitely be checking in daily.
One of the coolest thing about reading friends’ blogs is finding links to other friends and to other blogs. I love finding new things! Keep it up!
