Okay, so Hotchkiss Men won The Master’s Cup for the 3rd consecutive year!  Glorious.  Our women won the cup as well – so, all in all Hotchkiss dominated & swept The Master’s Cup!!!

In all reality, if you’re ever a new student here during WOW or on staff as an RD [in the words of Jen Ginsberg] “this is probably the dumbest thing you’ll ever care about but you will care”

Yeah its dumb, when you don’t win but amazing when you do – especially 3 years in a row!

I’ll have pics for you soon enough!

AUGUST RUSH

August 22, 2008

Here you go with some updates and pics:

  • seeing Moni & Zemirah (and having her 9th birthday here)
  • RD retreat was a blast
  • RA retreat was really relaxing and fun
  • SLS retreat was refreshing
  • playing and singing with Chapel Band – this year’s band is off the hook!
  • spent a couple of hours with Brad & Nadine a week ago
  • my current dorm staff is awesome – pretty open group of guys…that really makes me excited for the church, if this quality is coming through the college – its great to see a lot of growth…and they so stinkin’ hillarious!!! – yesterday we cleaned the tarps and for the entire 4 1/2 hours the guys were fighting for jobs to do – service isn’t service unless it undures and perseveres to the end – it was fun serving with them
  • Bug’s wedding last weekend
  • talking with my sister
  • 2 Timothy 2
  • commentaries of the Olympics with the guys

Here are some pics from the last couple of weeks!

YEAR FIVE

August 4, 2008

Here’s why I can’t post my pics now – because picasa will only allow me 500 pics – and I just don’t have the time to “selec” “hold” all 5,200 pics.

Anyway, tomorrow I begin my 5th year as an RD – pretty exciting!  Let me just say this, I love my job/ministry.  It hasn’t always been easy.  The first two years were hardest and the enjoyment of it started to pick up my 3rd year.  Don’t get me wrong the first two years weren’t bad, just hard.  Anyway, RD, RA, SLS then WOW.  I miss a lot of people that have gone through my dorm, but I’m really excited who is currently in it and for those new ones coming.

Tonight Zane stopped by and hung out.  I thought about his time here as a student.  It has been such a blessing to be able to be friends with the guys in the dorm and work through difficulties in life and even in relationship with them.  And with few, like Zane it has been so sweet to continue friendship outside the dorm context.  And he was even a part of the first two hard years as an RD =)  Anyway, he’s just one of the few guys that have been faithful, to which I am very thankful.  It makes going into this 5th year very exciting.  Its just a reminder that it is worth investing into the hard relationships, sometimes.

How timely the Lord brought Zane over tonight.  It was a reminder to me that some of your investments will harvest plenty and sometimes it includes you and sometimes it doesn’t.  I know some are havesting elsewhere, that’s cool.  When you get to be a part of it though, it definitely is a blessing.

Anyway, recap:  no India pics (yet) but Zane came over, I got my dorm housing done, haven’t yet packed for retreat, had lots to eat for lunch with my family (thanks uncle), started Chapel Band project, went to church with Rick & Esther, reviewed notes from the worship God conference (will soon post more about that, along with my India pics and my post about my Hawaii trip =), listened to sovereign grace songs a billion times today, saw two guys tonight from my wing when I was an RA and had dinner with Pete at Stonefire.

Ok, 5th year here I come…

WG8 PREBRIEF

August 3, 2008

I just wanted to come and say that this summer has been great.  The Lord has allowed much rest, profitable learnings, fun travels and amazing ministry.  All that ended this weekend at the Worship God 08 Conference in Gaithersberg, Maryland by Sovereign Grace Ministries.  I can’t wait to post about it entirely but here’s an initial snap shot of my thoughts about it:

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been ministered to so much, so deeply by the Lord.  Yes it was an experience but I’m not swinging to an extreme.  My experience there was well (bibilically) informed and very much guided by the Spirit.  The Lord used this conference to deepen a longing that I’ve missed out on so much.  I think partly because I’ve been smothered by “ministry” and haven’t made the Lord my portion.  That’s my fault and not anyone else’s.  Which gives an impression that I haven’t been taken care of.  That’s not the case.  Regardless, I am thankful that there are vibrant people of God who have a passion, a reviting passion to see God really glorified by the worship of His people through adoration, praise, singing, music, teaching of the Word etc.  i felt like my soul was outlined and cut.  The Word of God spoke to me then it “read me”.

I was reminded that the weight of God’s glory is far too great for me to try and bear, which makes it’s unsearchable ways so worth celebrating.  The Spirit of God controlled me, not the experience.  But the experience was well controlled by the Spirit of God.

I so enjoyed the conference (the singing/worship was off the hook) – this and going to Inidia May/June were definitely highlights of the summer.  The last vibrant worship “time” I remember being a part of was when I was with 2,000 Indians worshipping the same God 2 1/2 years ago – the passion was similar – almost like the presence of God in both settings was really welcomed – no hesitency or fear only joy and reverence.

Oh, I’ll post my thousands of pics before I leave for RD retreat.
